Divorce in America (Statistics and Facts)

As many people may know, American has the highest percentage of divorce in the world. Compared to some countries, America even has more than double the divorce rate. That could be becauseAmericans have more freedom to do what they want to do. However, it could also be related to the fact that Americans do not put as much value on making a relationship work. Whatever the reasons, thedivorce rates are alarmingly high. Here are the top eight factors that couples say made them get adivorce.

Finances

This is one of the major problems that end a lot of marriages. In fact, about fifty-five percent of people getting divorced in America say it is because of money problems and money differences.

Lack of Communication

Couples who can’t learn how to talk and communicate about everything will be more likely to get a divorce.

Inequality

At least forty percent of people getting divorced in America also said that they want the divorce because they do not feel like their relationship is equal to both people.

Unmet Expectations

Too often people go into marriage expecting certain things. When those things are not done the way they thought, they will be too disappointed and just want out of the marriage.

Constant Arguments

A lot of people getting divorced will state that constant arguing led to their divorce. They say that no matter what the topic, they would fight about it. It kind of goes along with communication, but is more destructive.

Infidelity and Lack of Trust

Abuse

Sadly enough, a recent survey also showed that twenty-nine percent of marriages end in divorce because of abuse.

While divorce rates are still quite alarming, people may be comforted to know that America does not any longer believe that fifty percent of marriages end in divorce. It has all been divided into age groups in the latest study, but it seems that on average only about thirty percent of marriages end in divorce.
