Step 6: Document Preparation

During your mediation session, the Mediator was taking notes on his/her computer capturing all the details of everything the couple discussed. The next step is to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and this will become the basis for drafting all of the legal court documents. Both parties will receive a digital copy of the MOU available through our client portal. You will review the MOU and make notations if you see items that need editing. This is also a transparent process, each partner will cc the other on any edits to make sure we are all in agreement. Most often, this can be accomplished in a few days and is done over email.

Once the MOU is approved, our paralegal will complete all of the necessary court documents and convert into PDF format. This PDF file will be emailed to the spouse that initiated the divorce to begin the filing process.
